Topic: The Rational Farmer in a Changing Climate
This talk will describe how the rational farmers Ted Schultz described are now facing a climate that is rapidly shifting, which changes farming in two important ways. First, farmer success is more important than ever because it is a key factor for reaching global emissions targets. Second, success is more difficult to achieve, as adaptations are proving less helpful than first thought. Some reasons for this and ideas for new approaches will be discussed.
