Position Description
The Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics at Michigan State University invites applications for The Elton R. Smith (ERS) Endowed Chair in Food and Agricultural Policy, a tenured faculty position at the Associate Professor or Professor level. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in agricultural economics, economics, or related field and have received national and international recognition through peer-reviewed scholarly publications, success in acquiring external funding, and a record of outstanding teaching and stakeholder engagement.
The ERS endowment will provide support for the successful candidate to: (1) continue and extend an outstanding economic research program and publish research outputs in appropriate outlets; (2) teach in the Department's undergraduate and/or graduate programs; and (3) provide education and policy leadership in partnership with MSU Extension to university, state, national, and international policy organizations and stakeholders as appropriate. ERS Chair Applications are encouraged from scholars working on a diverse range of policy issues that relate to food, agriculture, health, nutrition, energy, natural resources, and/or the environment.
