The International Centre for the Study of East Asian Development(ICSEAD), was established as a cooperative research facility with the University of Pennsylvania in 1989 and became a public interest incorporated foundation, in 2012. ICSEAD, has been focusing its studies on socioeconomic issues in 11 East Asian economies, aiming to promote the international academic exchange as well as policy cooperation in the East Asian countries. The composition of ICSEAD researchers is international.

We are currently seeking candidates for a position of Research Assistant Professor or Research Associate Professor to start in Fall 2014. Earlier appointment is possible.

We are interested in researchers who have Ph.D degree in Economics or related areas and can conduct independent academic research and play active role in joint policy-oriented research.
After being promoted to senior positions (including Research Associate Professor and Research Professor), some researchers are expected to teach in English for our joint graduate program with Kyushu University as well as for another joint graduate program with University of Kitakyushu.
Candidates must show record of research productivity and publications in international refereed academic journals. Candidates who will have a Ph.D. degree by June 2014 are also welcome to apply for this position.

This position is tenure track, and the initial contract will be for five years and renewable once for another five years. A tenure decision will be made by the end of the fifth year.
Salary of ICSEAD researcher, which is equivalent to national / public university in Japan, will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. ICSEAD offers a comprehensive benefit and retirement package including medical insurance. ICSEAD also provides various types of research fund for supporting researcher's academic research and other research activities.
