The University of Alaska Anchorage's College of Business and Public Policy invites applications for a tenure track position within the Economics Department at the Assistant or Associate Professor levels. Expected hire date is August of 2014.
We seek candidates with research and teaching interests in any field, but preference will be given to those with expertise in macroeconomics, finance, and/or international trade. Experience with economics experiments is an advantage. Teaching will include undergraduate courses in Macroeconomics, International Trade, and /or Money and Banking.
The UAA Economics Department offers a congenial work environment with excellent support for high quality research and teaching. The Economics Department has thirteen faculty members and about 100 undergraduate majors. Classes are small relative to many state universities and faculty are encouraged to develop innovative courses or curriculum that overlap with research interests. We emphasize close faculty-student interaction and encourage undergraduate research.
The department is developing a strong program in experimental economics and there is an active Experimental Economics Laboratory used for teaching and research experiments. Faculty also benefit from interacting with distinguished visiting faculty who spend time in residence as the Rasmuson Chair of Economics.
