The Graduate School of Economics at Hitotsubashi University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position or a tenured associate professor position starting on October 1, 2014 or April 1, 2015. We are interested in candidates with research interests in either (1) empirical studies on fiscal policy or social security favorably from the macroeconomic perspectives, or (2) financial econometrics, financial engineering and theoretical econometrics. Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. or complete it within three months after the time of appointment. The successful candidate will mainly teach either (1) applied econometrics, macroeconomics at the School of International and Public Policy (IPP) that is joint program of the Graduate Schools of Economics and Law, Hitotsubashi University, or (2) financial econometrics and econometric theory at the Graduate School of Economics, Hitotsubashi University. The term of the initial contract of a tenure-track assistant professor is three years and, depending on academic work, the contract can be renewed once for two more years. The tenure decision will be made within the five years on the basis of academic work such as publications in refereed journals and teaching performance. If candidates have sufficient academic work, however, the appointment can be as a tenured associate professor. Administrative duties include shared responsibility for committee membership and entrance examinations. Other administrative duties may be assigned.
