Business Management
Performs teaching, research, and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
BMCC is an integral part of City University of New York system with the largest college enrollment in the system of about 24,000 students. It is strategically located in downtown Manhattan in close proximity to Wall Street, NY Federal Reserve Bank, and the financial center of New York. The Business Management Department is located in the new state-of-the-art Fiterman Hall across from the World Trade Center. The department is undergoing a process of growth and renewal and would like to attract new faculty that will share and contribute to this process through teaching, research, and guidance in area(s) of expertise. Faculty will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions for the good of the institution.
Ability to teach a range of classes relevant to business administration is important. City University of New York and BMCC expect faculty to engage in scholarship and research in their fields. Ideal candidates for the faculty positions would have an established research agenda and be able to take advantage of the bountiful academic resources and institutions available within the metropolitan New York area and the research opportunities within the City University of New York. Significant research release time is available to junior tenure-track faculty and peer-refereed publications are a necessary component for tenure and promotion.
Faculty are expected to teach and inspire a culturally and linguistically diverse student population as evidenced by outstanding student teaching evaluations. Demonstrated capacity to use a diverse range of effective and new technology based strategies as well as openness to adopting new practices is expected. In addition, candidates are expected to participate in college, department, and professorial activities such as curriculum development, grant writing, assessment, faculty development, mentoring student projects, and sharing responsibility for committee and department assignments.
For Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor: Ph.D./DBA in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or related field is required for professorial lines. For Associate and Full Professor, the candidate must have a record of significant achievement in the field. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
For Instructor: Master's degree in area(s) of expertise, and/or active progress toward a Doctorate, in Business Administration. Persons appointed in the instructor title are only eligible for five (5) annual appointments. Appointments to a professorial title subsequent to service as an instructor will only be considered if the candidate has obtained the qualifications for professorial ranks as stated above. Instructors with ABD preferred.
