The Harte Research Institute at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for an Assistant Research Scientist within the Socio-Economics Group. The individual in this position will address issues related to ecosystem goods and services and their valuation in coastal and marine environments. Projects that this individual would contribute to include: a Gulf of Mexico wide valuation of ecosystem services; assessing the change in ecosystem services as a result of climate change; and resiliency and sustainability issues in coastal environments. The individual will work with ecological modelers, marine biologists, geo-spatial technicians, law and policy scientists, and economists.
The Assistant Research Scientist is expected to engage in unique research of high quality, and to participate in the academic and intellectual life of the Harte Research Institute and the University. The successful applicant is expected to be well grounded in environmental valuation techniques and be a strong writer. Job responsibilities will also include student mentoring and grant writing.
