Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Congressional Research Service (CRS) Domestic Social Policy Division seeks an Analyst in Labor Policy (Economics) to address employment and income issues — trends and disparities in labor force participation, employment and unemployment patterns, and the changing nature of wealth and income distributions, and their underlying causes including technical change, globalization, and rising returns to education. The analyst must have a strong quantitative background with demonstrated skills of data manipulation and analysis, and an understanding of policy research focused on labor market issues, including those concerning broadly expanding economic opportunity.

The analyst will address questions such as: How is the U.S. labor force growing and changing? What are employment patterns among various demographic, socioeconomic, and educational attainment groups? Who are the long-term unemployed? How have returns to education or skills changed over time? What is the impact of immigration on low-skilled labor? How has the economic status of the middle class changed? What employment and training policies can expand economic opportunities and bring about upward wage mobility?

Labor economists, demographers, other social scientists and policy analysts with an understanding of labor economics are encouraged to apply.

CRS is fully committed to workforce diversity.
