Full Text of JOE Listing: |
Sidley Austin LLP, one of the world's leading law firms, is seeking to hire an economist to support its Economic Analysis Unit. The unit acts as an in-house consultancy and provides litigation and analytic support to all practice groups, in particular to Sidley's international trade and arbitration, competition, and regulatory groups.
The successful candidate holds a PhD in economics, ideally with a focus on international trade, microeconomics/micro-econometrics, IO, or neighboring field. With projects covering a broad range of subjects (including international trade, environmental protection, intellectual property, antitrust/competition, commercial and treaty arbitration) and business sectors (including life sciences, aviation, e-commerce, telecommunications, consumer goods, mining/natural resources, food/agriculture, and financial services), a generalist skill-set is key. The position further requires excellent technical skills and proficiency in econometrics. The successful candidate possesses superior communication and writing skills, is comfortable in inter-disciplinary project teams, and has a keen interest in working on complex economic and legal matters. Knowledge of (international) law is an asset, as is prior experience in consulting and/or teaching.
Work location is either Washington, DC, or Geneva, Switzerland. Working language is English. Remuneration is highly competitive. Starting date as soon as possible.
