The Development Impact Evaluation Department (DIME) of the World Bank is seeking to recruit research economists with interests in the following fields: public finance, trade, applied microeconomics, law and economics, poverty and inequality, gender, rural and agricultural economics, urban economics, natural resource and environmental economics, and the economics of climate change. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated interest and research experience in development economics, environmental and renewable resources conservation, energy and climate change policies.
DIME is a research department within the Development Economics (DEC) Vice-Presidency of the World Bank, the main area where policy-relevant research is conducted at the World Bank. The primary responsibilities of a research economist at DIME are to 1/ work with development partners and policymakers in client countries to place rigorous evidence at the center of their economic policies, and 2/ maintain an outstanding publication record and strong, active ties to academia.
We seek candidates with (i) strong analytical skills; (ii) good record of or prospects for publication in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, (iii) strong interest in working in close collaboration with policymakers and communicating research to a non-academic audience; and (iv) excellent spoken and written proficiency in English. The committee will consider new PhDs as well as more experienced candidates with relevant post-doctoral academic or non-academic experience.
