The Department of Business, Government & Society (BGS) at the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business invites applications for an assistant professor (tenure track) position in nonmarket strategy effective August 16, 2026. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research focuses on corporate political activity, including but not limited to money in politics, sociopolitical activism, and regulation.
The BGS department teaches future leaders how to recognize and respond to the political, social, legal, and ethical expectations that businesses face. BGS aims to contribute to public policy debates in these areas through research that applies rigorous social science methods to relevant nonmarket strategy questions.
The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. prior to the start date and be prepared to publish in top outlets. The primary teaching responsibilities for this position will be corporate political strategy for undergraduate, MBA, and EMBA students, as well as BGS’s undergraduate core nonmarket strategy class.
