Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Graduate School of Economics at the University of Osaka invites applications for two faculty positions: one in econometrics (including applied econometrics) and one in international economics (particularly international trade and spatial economics). Appointments will be made at the level of tenure-track Assistant Professor (Lecturer) or Associate Professor, beginning in September 2026 or as soon thereafter as possible.
Successful candidates will be expected to conduct research and teach at the Graduate School of Economics. The initial contract for a tenure-track Assistant Professor (Lecturer) is five years, with a tenure review by the end of the fourth year. If tenure is not granted but the candidate is deemed suitable, the committee may allow a one-year extension, with a second review by the end of the fifth year.
Applicants must have:
A doctoral degree (or completion before employment).
For Associate Professor applicants: publications in peer-reviewed journals of relevant fields.
Business-level Japanese proficiency, with the ability to teach undergraduate courses in Japanese and graduate courses in English.
