The Economics Area at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore invites applications from candidates at all levels with strong research potential and credentials. We welcome exceptional candidates across all fields of economic research, with particular focus on:

Macroeconomics
Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics (JEL: E)
Economic Development, Innovation, Technological Change, and Growth (JEL: O)
Applied empirical microeconomics
Various fields such as environmental economics, public economics, labor economics, political economy, and other domains in applied microeconomics.
Research methods related to econometric applications of Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Generalized Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Large Language Models to different fields

Qualifications
Assistant Professor Level:
PhD in Economics (completed or expected by June 2026)
Demonstrated potential in research in macroeconomics
The search will evaluate applications from candidates who specialize in the macro-labor, search theory, business cycle, and macroeconomic applications of time series econometrics, with special interest.
Demonstrated expertise in applying AI/ML/AGI/LLM and/or other econometric techniques to economics research
Strong research record with potential for publication in top-tier journals

Associate Professor/Professor Level:
Requirements listed above for the Assistant Professor position
Strong research record with publications in leading journals
Demonstrated academic leadership experience
