Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Department of Economics and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences seek to hire a tenure-track advanced Assistant or tenured Associate Professor in Agricultural Economics. This position works with the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development and the Iowa State Extension farm management team. The approximate division of responsibilities is 62% extension, 25% research, 8% teaching, and 5% service.
This individual will develop nationally recognized extension and research programs in the economics of cooperatives and agricultural supply chains and will hold the Iowa Institute for Cooperatives Endowed Economics Professorship. The extension program addresses issues relevant to the cooperative system at state, regional, and national levels, including leadership, strategic planning, and financial competency skill development in cooperative and agribusiness leaders. They will maintain active projects under the auspices of the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station.
The research and teaching activities are synergistic with extension activities, leading to applied extension materials targeting producers, agribusiness professionals, and other groups; original research in agricultural economics leading to publications in appropriate refereed journals; and presentations at professional conferences. The successful candidate generates extramural funds to support extension and research activities. Candidates may direct graduate student research and serve on graduate academic plan committees.
