The Department of Economics and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences seek to hire a non-tenure-track Adjunct Assistant Professor in Agricultural Economics with interests in the economics of agricultural processing and agricultural contracts. The approximate responsibility division is 15% research, 25% teaching, 55% extension and outreach, and 5% institutional service. The appointment term is three years, renewable upon satisfactory performance.

The individual in this position will develop a nationally recognized research and outreach program in the economics surrounding agricultural processing, including contract design and industrial organization. The research and outreach program will be expected to address critical issues for Iowa’s evolving agricultural processing sector. The individual will maintain one or more active projects under the auspices of the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station.

The successful candidate will collaborate across departments, extension units, and university centers. The research and teaching activities are envisioned to be synergistic with the outreach activities, leading to applied outreach materials targeting producers, agribusiness professionals, and other relevant groups; original research in agricultural economics leading to publications; and presentations at conferences. The successful candidate will be expected to generate extramural funds to support outreach and research activities. Candidates may serve on graduate academic plan committees.
