The Department of Finance at HEC Montréal invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions (open rank), depending on the department’s needs, starting in the academic year 2026/2027. Candidates are sought in all areas of finance.
Candidates should hold a doctorate in Finance (or in a related field) or be close to the completion of their doctorate.
The typical teaching load for new assistant professors is 3 courses per year for the first two years. Publications are financially rewarded based on journal ranking.
The main language of instruction at HEC Montréal is French, and some courses and programs are offered in English. Proficiency in English is required to teach courses in this language, to communicate with non-French-speaking students, and to carry out certain research activities. The person must be able to teach and work in French after 2 years in the position. Substantial support will be provided by HEC Montréal to help achieve this objective, in an environment conducive to improving French language skills. It is strongly recommended to mention any prior knowledge of French in your application file.
