The School of Government at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile invites applications for two full-time tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. This call is primarily aimed at early-career researchers with an interest in conducting high-quality research and teaching on topics relevant to public policy. Exceptionally, applications from more senior scholars will be considered.
The School of Government is an interdisciplinary academic unit, composed of faculty with backgrounds in public policy, public administration, economics, political science, sociology, law, engineering, and related fields. Its work is based on the conviction that public problems require innovative, rigorous, collaborative, and interdisciplinary approaches grounded in academic excellence.
This is a broad call for applications, aimed at strengthening and expanding the School’s current lines of work. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Institutions and quality of democratic governance
• Social inequalities and social policy
• Crime and public safety
• State management and public administration
• Fiscal policy and effectiveness of public spending
• Climate change adaptation and sustainable development
• Economic and social development
• Technology, artificial intelligence, and public policy

Application Instructions:
1. Full curriculum vitae.
2. A representative publication, showcasing work relevant to the call (or a core chapter/article from the Ph.D. dissertation for applicants nearing completion).
3. Personal statement (max. 2 pages), including:
• Academic interests and trajectory in research and teaching
• Motivation to join Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and the School of Government
• Expected contributions to the UC community, in light of its institutional mission (see here)
4. Brief academic proposal (max. 2 pages), outlining:
• General description of planned research agenda over the coming years
• Teaching areas or courses the candidate could offer
• How the applicant’s work aligns with the School of Government’s mission and priorities
5. Copy of Ph.D. diploma, or an official letter from the doctoral program confirming completion of all degree
