The Yale State Capacity and Economic Dynamism Center, directed by Professors Joshua Kalla, Zachary Liscow, and David Schleicher, is an interdisciplinary research group exploring evidence-based solutions to America's economic and political challenges The Center unites social scientists and legal scholars to study institutional design and reform for more effective governance. Research focuses on how political processes shape policy and examines how regulatory barriers, procedural obstacles, and institutional choices—influenced by politics and public opinion—limit capacity to build essential housing, infrastructure, and investments. The Center investigates policy reforms that reduce costs, expand opportunity, and promote innovation. Through rigorous empirical analysis and cross-disciplinary collaboration, it bridges academic research and real-world policy implementation, fostering dialogue among scholars, policymakers, and practitioners across the political spectrum committed to effective, evidence-based governance.
