Full Text of JOE Listing:

The (Senior) Energy Economist for Electricity and Power Systems is expected to play a leading role in delivering high-quality knowledge products and analysis, with a particular focus on the electricity and power sector.

Key Responsibilities
-Undertake high-quality, policy-oriented analysis; prepare policy recommendations; and contribute to the formulation of guidelines, rules, or regulations related to electricity and power systems and their financial arrangements — including, but not limited to, cross-border power grids, green electricity certificates, and electricity planning for ASEAN and East Asia.
-Demonstrate strong communication and presentation skills, confidently engaging with diverse audiences and representing ERIA at international conferences, meetings, and symposiums as required.
-Provide strategic advice at regional, national, and local levels, and remain informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the field.
-Engage with key stakeholders (governments, industries, academia, and other international and non-governmental organisations) through knowledge management, policy guidance, technical assistance, and capacity building.
-Perform other related duties as assigned by the President and/or other senior management officials.

Qualifications
-An advanced degree in energy policy, economics, finance, development, electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering, or another relevant field.
-Prior experience — either through work or research — in areas such as blended finance, public–private investment mechanisms, or climate/energy transition finance.
-A strong understanding of macroeconomic frameworks, fiscal policy, econometrics, and regional economic dynamics (particularly within ASEAN or the Asia-Pacific region) is highly desirable.
-Strong analytical and research skills, with experience in energy and economic policy, particularly in electricity and power systems and their financial arrangements within ASEAN and East Asia.
-Excellent writing skills, with a proven track record of producing high-quality publications.
-Extensive experience in handling data sources.
-Ability to effectively present key findings to public audiences.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work harmoniously in a multicultural team. Experience in communicating with government officials in Asian countries and familiarity with regional working cultures are preferred.

Language
-Excellent written and verbal proficiency in English.
-Proficiency in one or more East Asian languages would be an asset.

1. Term
The appointment is for a fixed term of one or two years, with the possibility of renewal for up to a maximum of five years in total upon reappointment by the President, depending on performance and budget availability.
