The Institute for Economic and Social Research (IESR) at Jinan University (https://iesr.jnu.edu.cn/Home/main.htm) has openings for several International Research Fellows. The objective is for the fellows to bring international perspectives outside China to enrich IESR’s research environment. International research fellows are expected to devote their entire time to productive scholarship and work independently. International young scholars who are of exceptional ability, originality, and very high calibre of intellectual achievement are encouraged to apply.

The term of appointment is three years, and no extensions are granted. During the academic year, International Research Fellows are required to regularly attend academic activities at IESR, including brown bag seminars. International Research Fellows are expected to work full-time in the office provided to them. They are also encouraged to collaborate with IESR faculty members, advisory board members of IESR, and among themselves.

Fields: Economics, AI and Statistics. We welcome applicants from all fields in economics, Non-economists who work on AI and statistics must show strong interests to apply their work in economics. Candidates are expected to present a brief research statement outlining their plans for the next three years.

Requirements: PhD degree obtained within the last three years or firmly expected by the time of the commencement of the position. Proficiency in English.

Compensation: Competitive salary and additional funding for research and international travel will be provided.
