Victoria Ivashina and Josh Lerner are seeking (for the Harvard Business School Private Capital Project) a pre-doctoral fellow for a two-year period starting in July 2026. The role would involve working with the two faculty members on topics related to private equity, venture capital, and innovation. Previous fellows have gone onto to top doctoral programs (e.g., London School of Economics, Northwestern, Penn, Stanford). We are looking for candidates with research experience and strong data handling and Python skills, as well as familiarity in working with large language models. The fellow will work closely with the faculty and doctoral students on multiple research topics. Compensation (through Harvard Business School) will be competitive. Lerner is also seeking a pre-doctoral fellow interested in working on Chinese innovation, where in addition, Mandarin skills would be a plus for that role (but not required).
