Full Text of JOE Listing:

The University of Alabama School of Leadership and Policy invites applications for multiple tenure-track positions in public policy, assistant or associate professor, beginning August 2027.

The SLP is UA's first new college-level unit in 60 years. A presidential priority, the SLP is hiring across both public policy and leadership. Faculty will help build its curriculum and programs from the ground up.

We seek applied, policy-relevant research agendas. Areas include security policy, social and community policy (healthcare, education, criminal justice, economic development), technology and industrial policy (energy, transportation, labor), and policymaking processes. Work that is primarily theoretical or methodological is a weaker fit.

Required: a PhD by August 2027 in economics, public policy, political science, public administration, sociology, or a related field. Candidates should show potential for peer-reviewed publication, external funding, and undergraduate and graduate teaching. Associate candidates need an established publication record.

Teaching needs include research methods, policy analysis, program evaluation, economics for public policy, policymaking processes, and policy capstone courses.

Competitive salary, startup package, and relocation assistance.

Review begins October 1 and continues until positions are filled. For entry-level economics candidates, interview invitations will follow AEA guidelines.
