Full Text of JOE Listing:
The University of Alabama School of Leadership and Policy (SLP) invites applications for multiple renewable contract faculty positions in public policy at the rank of assistant or associate professor, beginning August 2027. The SLP, the first new college-level unit at the University in 60 years, opens for classes in fall 2027.
These are teaching- and student-focused appointments in the undergraduate and Master of Public Policy (MPP) programs. Duties may include advising, mentoring, and supervising capstones and internships. Research is not a condition of appointment. Appointments are for renewable three-year terms, with eligibility for promotion.
Candidates must hold a doctorate in a relevant field (e.g., economics, public policy, political science) or a master's degree with a record of professional accomplishment in public policy. We seek candidates prepared to teach the analytic core (economics of public policy, policy analysis and evaluation, and research methods) as well as supporting courses. Experience with a policy capstone, professional practice, or program building is valued.
