Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position in agricultural markets, trade, and rural development policy. This is a 9-month, academic-year appointment, with expectations to fund summer activities through external grants or other mechanisms. 50 percent research, 50 percent Extension

Maintain a visible, nationally recognized, externally funded applied research and Extension program in agricultural markets, trade, and rural development policy analysis, with a particular focus on distilling and communicating the impacts of proposed policies and market changes to stakeholders across the Commonwealth of Virginia. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in AAEC, Center for Agricultural Trade, and other CALS departments to develop effective Extension and applied research programs that integrate market, policy, and trade analysis into existing efforts on local food systems and rural development initiatives. This position works with Extension agents, specialists, and field staff to develop effective and visible programs. Through collaboration, the position will serve as a catalyst for interdisciplinary activity, bridging the technical rigor of quantitative analysis with the practical, applied focus of Extension work needed to address the market, trade, and policy impacts confronting rural Virginia communities.
