The Department of Applied Economics and Statistics plans to hire a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in environmental and natural resource economics beginning in fall 2015. Desired areas are listed below. The position will be a 9-month, academic-year appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor with approximately 60% of time devoted to research and 40% of time devoted to teaching.

Responsibilities:
Research: The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain an active, funded, nationally recognized research program in environmental and natural resource economics. Collaboration with other faculty and/or professionals in related fields is strongly encouraged. At least one element of the candidate's research program must contribute to the College's local, regional, and/or national research priorities. Especially desired are applicants that can cooperate in the Department's existing strengths in behavioral, experimental, environmental, natural resource, and agricultural economics and statistics. This position will contribute to the College's Strategic Plan and the University's Path to Prominence through excellence in graduate education; innovative partnerships; and research efforts that impact the state, nation and the world.

Teaching: A tenure-track assistant professor will be responsible for teaching up to three courses per year to undergraduate and graduate students. The candidates are expected to contribute to department and university service activities.

Requirements: Ph.D. in natural resource and environmental economics, agricultural economics, economics, or closely related fields. Successful candidates are expected to have demonstrated excellence in research and have a dedicated interest in high quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

General Information: The Department of Applied Economics and Statistics is an interdisciplinary academic unit within the University of Delaware's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Currently, the Department consists of 19 faculty and professional staff who teach and supervise approximately 150 undergraduate majors and 65 graduate students. The Department includes the Center for Experimental & Applied Economics, a large state-of-the art experimental economics laboratory that was renovated in 2014, and a statistical lab. Recognized for the past five years by the Chronicle of Higher Education as one of America's best universities to work for, the University of Delaware is located in scenic Newark, Delaware, within 2 hours of New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. Salary: University of Delaware salaries and fringe benefit packages are highly competitive. Tenure-track professors receive a third-year sabbatical leave. A start-up package will be available.
