Appointment: Full time, Tenure Track, 9 month appointment at the associate or full professor level, teaching/research split negotiable.
General Duties and Responsibilities: Build an internationally recognized research program that fits under the broad umbrella of food choice, food insecurity, obesity, nutrition, and health economics. The person hired will be expected to participate in the UGA interdisciplinary obesity initiative team and to attract significant amounts of external funding. Publishing in high-quality academic journals is expected in conjunction with communication of results and expertise to policy makers, industry and other constituencies. Collaboration with other faculty members and the funding and directing of a significant number of graduate students is expected. Teaching appointment will be two or three classes per year with a mix of undergraduate and graduate level courses. A strong commitment to the department’s instructional programs and to excellence in teaching is expected of all faculty members.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Applied Economics, Economics, or a related field is required with strong knowledge of economic theory and quantitative methods, willingness to work in a team environment, and excellent oral and written communication skills. A track record of external funding success is required. Excellent skills in applied micro econometrics and specialization in experimental, behavioral, labor, development, or applied welfare economics are desirable.
