The Department of Policy Analysis and Management at the College of Human Ecology at Cornell University is seeking to hire an Executive Director for the Sloan Program in Health Administration. This will be a non-tenure-track position with administrative, teaching, advising, and research responsibilities. The new hire will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Sloan Program in Health Administration, which offers a master’s degree in health administration.

The Executive Director’s primary responsibilities include organizing and directing the CAHME accreditation process, including measuring core competencies and surveying students and alumni; marketing the program to prospective students and other health administration programs (e.g., developing and disseminating brochures and student profiles) in order to attract high-quality students and enhance the program’s ranking; making admissions decisions along with the Sloan Admission Committee; helping to place students in internships and full-time jobs; identifying faculty to teach the core, elective, and one-credit courses; running the Sloan Colloquium Speaker Series, including identifying and inviting speakers; assigning students to faculty advisers; attending ACHE and AUPHA meetings to raise the visibility of the Sloan program nationally; exploring the possibility of launching an executive MHA and/or on-line MHA program; communicating with other Cornell units (e.g., Johnson School, Hotel School, Weill Cornell Medical College, the Dyson School) to raise the visibility of the Sloan program within Cornell and to foster collaboration when there are mutual interests; participating in orientation, inter-session trips, and graduation activities; maintaining a dialogue with current students to solicit suggestions for how to improve the program; conducting research; and teaching.

This position is in an applied multidisciplinary department with research interests in the areas of health policy, regulatory policy, and social policy, and with faculty members drawn from economics, sociology, public policy and other disciplines.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. or Master’s degree in economics, public policy, health administration, business, or other appropriate field is required. Significant business experience in the health care industry is required.

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience and qualifications, with a competitive benefit package.
