The Public Policy Institute of California is building capacity for a new Water Policy Center and seeks a highly trained and experienced professional researcher to join the team. This individual should have a driving interest in creating and communicating knowledge that informs California’s water policymaking.
The Center will focus on: (1) encouraging comprehensive, integrated approaches to managing water quality and quantity in order to ensure clean and reliable water supplies; (2) promoting the development of healthy and resilient ecosystems using practical approaches to watershed management; and (3) helping improve the state’s preparation for droughts and floods. Qualifications:
The successful applicant will have a doctoral degree in economics or a related field and excellent and demonstrated skills in conducting quantitative research, writing, external policy engagement, project management, leadership, and communications. We are seeking applicants from mid-career to senior level who are able to exhibit a significant interest in connecting research to policymaking. While a background in California water or environmental policy is an advantage, we also seek applicants with water policy experience at the federal and/or other state-levels that could be translated to the California context. Located in San Francisco or Sacramento.
