Responsibilities: Outstanding applicants are sought in any area of business management and strategy for this new named chair. The chair is intended for a distinguished faculty member with an established track record of research published in leading academic outlets, excellent teaching skills, extensive public visibility, and demonstrated impact in influencing industry practice or policy making.
We have particular interest in candidates whose research is in the following areas: business analytics, corporate governance, data science, environmentally sustainable business, entrepreneurship, international/global business, or technology and innovation. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a highly impactful program of research relevant to broad societal, economic and business issues and to communicate results to public audiences and practitioners as well as academic peers. It is also expected that the incumbent will be actively engaged with undergraduate and graduate students as a teacher, adviser and mentor. The candidate will be called upon to take a leadership role in strengthening the Dyson School’s research and instructional capacities in their area of expertise and in fostering collaboration with faculty in all areas.

Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management is an internationally renowned school in the areas of management, food and agricultural economics, environmental, energy and resource economics, and international and development economics. The undergraduate program is consistently recognized as one of the elite accredited business degrees in the U.S. The graduate program awards research degrees at the Doctoral and Master’s levels and a professional Master’s degree.
Dyson faculty members often work with faculty and students in the Johnson Graduate School of Management, Department of Economics, Computing & Information Science, the School of Industrial and Labor Relations, and the School of Hotel Administration, and many other units at Cornell. There are strong cross-campus research concentrations in the areas of behavioral science, innovation and entrepreneurship, sustainability, quantitative analysis and big data, emerging markets, applied microeconomics and industrial organization, and agricultural and life sciences.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in management/business, economics, or a related field, and significant research and teaching accomplishments consistent with academic leadership, as well as proven external visibility in business and/or public media.
