The University of Cape Town (UCT) is a research-led, strongly internationalised university, and the only one in Africa included in the Times Higher Education Supplement’s Top 200 world universities. The School of Economics at UCT is the top ranked economics department, both in South Africa, as well as Africa. Its PhD programme is in a strong growth phase and is particularly drawing students from the economically growing African continent and other emerging regions.
The School is seeking to make an appointment in macroeconomics at the Senior Lecturer or Lecturer level.
For the position of Senior Lecturer, applicants would normally have a PhD (or be able to provide evidence that they expect to complete all the requirements for the degree before 1 January 2016) and evidence of peer-reviewed research output. For the position of Lecturer, a minimum of a Masters degree (with considerable progress toward a PhD) and strong research promise is required. A good track record in teaching would be a strong recommendation.

UCT offers competitive remuneration. The 2015 Standard Academic Salary Package (SASP) Cost of Employment (COE) per annum for permanent academic staff, including benefits is R649 534 at the Senior Lecturer level and R528 275 at the Lecturer level.
