Assistant or Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics - Dairy/Livestock Economics, 12 month tenure track appointment, 70 percent extension, 30 percent research.
Responsibilities: The person in this position will be responsible for developing a nationally-recognized research-based extension program in dairy and livestock economics, specifically to support Idaho’s large dairy and beef production and processing sector. Areas of emphasis may include, but are not limited to farm management, agricultural finance, production economics, agricultural marketing, or agricultural policy. Specifically, the areas of emphasis of this position could include the economics of cattle and dairy production in a face of increased water competition, the economics of livestock disease and food safety, the economics of industrial organization of the dairy production and processing sectors, and the interaction of agricultural and environmental policy with firm level decision-making. The successful candidate will cooperate with UI Extension educators and state/area specialists located throughout Idaho and the region.
The research program is expected to be analytically rigorous and synergistic with the extension program.
Required Qualifications: A PhD in Agricultural Economics or a closely related field is required by start of employment; strong commitment to outreach, engagement and research
