Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Department seeks an economist in the fields of: 1) international development; 2) natural resource/environmental economics; and(or) 3) international trade. The person hired for this position will currently have or exhibit potential for a nationally and internationally recognized research program with significant extramural funding to support their research and graduate students. The research program should address major current and emerging state, national and international issues. Prolific publishing in highly ranked journals is expected in conjunction with communication of results and expertise to policy makers, industry and other constituencies. Collaboration with other faculty members and directing graduate students is also expected. Teaching appointment will be two or three classes per year and will likely include at least one course at the graduate level. A strong commitment to the department’s instructional programs and to excellence in teaching is expected of all faculty members.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Applied Economics, or Economics is required with strong foundation in economic theory and quantitative methods. The successful candidate will exhibit and willingness to work with graduate students, obtain external grant funding, and work in a team environment. Excellent communication skills are also expected.
