The Department of Economics in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Connecticut invites applications for the position of Professor and Department Head. The Economics Department consists of 25 tenured and tenure-track faculty who boast an impressive record of scholarship and publications in top disciplinary journals. The department’s graduate program confers both Ph.D. and Masters degrees and has about 60 active students. Current Ph.D. fields include Environmental Economics, Industrial Organization, Labor Economics, and Macroeconomics. Other significant strengths among the faculty exist in Development Economics, Health Economics, Law and Economics, and Local Public Finance. The undergraduate major is sizeable, with more than 800 majors.
Candidates for this position must have a Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field, a distinguished record of publication in economics journals and evidence of an ongoing research agenda, and a proven record of excellence in teaching and service. The successful candidate’s accomplishments must be consistent with appointment as a Full Professor. Preferred qualifications include evidence of high professional visibility as an economist, evidence of some relevant administrative experience and managerial skills, and ability to contribute collegially through research, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience.
