Bennington is a residential liberal arts college distinguished by its progressive approach to higher education. The College was founded on the principle of active engagement in learning, which is manifest in individualized plans of study developed by students together with faculty. We aim to educate students towards self-fulfillment and constructive social purposes, and we believe that equity, diversity, and inclusivity--in community and in curriculum--are vital to achieving those aims.

We seek a full-time faculty member in economics beginning Fall 2016. Candidates whose interests bridge disciplines beyond the social sciences will be particularly attractive as they complement areas taught by existing faculty. Areas of expertise include history of economic thought, political economy, environmental/natural resource economics, sustainability/community and international trade development, business/financial economics, and the economics of class, gender and race, including heterodox approaches.

Faculty are teacher-practitioners who teach five courses/year and advise students. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest in developing the curriculum at all levels. Preference will be given to candidates who have a PhD and teaching experience beyond the level of teaching assistant.
