Colorado School of Mines invites applications for the newly created position of Executive Director of the Payne Institute for Earth Resources. The Institute is a research center with a mission to inform and shape sound public policy toward earth resources, energy and the environment. The position includes an appointment as Professor in the Division of Economics and Business. The Executive Director/Professor will be responsible for overall leadership of the Institute, including leading, conducting and communicating scholarship to inform public policy.
Qualifications: Strong background in economic policy issues as they relate to earth resources, energy, and the environment. Experience in working with policymakers, advocates, news media, and constituent groups as it relates to communicating nonpartisan public policy research. A strategic thinker with strong leadership skills; creative and entrepreneurial spirit; commitment to excellence; understanding and valuing of diversity; and strong administrative skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex or technical information clearly to a range of audiences in writing, through public speaking and the media.
