The University of Macau (UM) is a leading higher education institution in Macao, with English as its working language. The Department of Economics of the Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for the position at the rank of Full / Associate Professor.
The Department of Economics currently comprises 10 full-time faculty members and offers programs leading to Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degrees. Faculty members actively engage in research with particular focuses on Microeconomic Theory, Public Economics, Financial Economics, the Chinese Economy and Economic Growth. Based on the quantity of publications in some respectable SSCI journals, the Department is highly ranked among universities in China. Qualifications
The field of expertise is open but preferences will be given to those with solid theoretical background and experience on empirical research in the area of macroeconomics. We aim to appoint the most qualified candidate who will make significant scholarly contribution to the Department. Minimum qualifications include: i) a relevant PhD degree with a distinguished record of scholarly research that qualifies the applicant for appointment at the rank of Full/Associate Professor and ii) teaching and thesis supervision experience at the postgraduate level.
The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2016.
Position and Remuneration
Remuneration and appointment rank offered will be competitive and commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualifications, current position and professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
