Airbnb seeks applications for multiple research positions in the Economic Policy group at our San Francisco headquarters. Candidates should have a strong empirical background, desire to sharpen "big data" skills, and a hunger to work on economic topics that are both at the cutting edge of policy and in the public eye. All candidates will be considered, but the role may be best suited for new PhDs to those 7 years out.

The position will work closely with the public policy, government relations and legal teams, along with data scientists in the same parent group. An ideal outcome for research would include internal learning, action taken as a result of the research, and (where appropriate) an external publication.

The scope of work includes high-impact topics, including housing and rental prices, taxation, economic spillover, relationship to the hotel industry, as well as many topics related to the design of the Airbnb marketplace. Candidates should be able to operate independently, but also work well with partners throughout the organization.
