The University of Chicago Urban Energy and Environment Lab is seeking a full-time Research Director to build and lead a portfolio of applied research projects in association with faculty members and research teams focused on improving environmental outcomes in urban areas.
The Research Director will report to faculty director Michael Greenstone. The Research Director will be responsible for providing intellectual leadership and management for the strategic planning and analytical work the Energy and Environment Lab undertakes. This includes contributing to the scientific content of research proposals and the opportunity to author or co-author scientific articles. The Research Director will assist the Executive Director and other faculty affiliates in supporting dissemination and policymaker outreach activities.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in public policy, economics, statistics or other relevant field with substantial policy and research experience. The successful candidate will have expertise in all aspects of the research design, methods, and evaluation of research projects in the area of energy and environmental policy or related area of social policy with a deep understanding of policy efforts to address urban problems. Preference will be given to those with proven experience leading successful interdisciplinary collaborations and with a record of obtaining research grants.
