Full Text of JOE Listing:
Dartmouth invites applications for the inaugural Richard and Susan Levy Chair, a newly established endowed tenured professorship in the field of health care delivery science. This is the first of several hires at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice at Geisel School of Medicine. The holder of the Levy Chair will work with other schools, centers, and institutes across campus to lead an interdisciplinary effort in developing Dartmouth’s vision of becoming the institution shaping and accelerating the transformation of health care in the United States.
Dartmouth seeks a candidate with a strong record of studying and solving the most difficult challenges facing health care. Candidates must have an MD, PhD or equivalent, strong academic credentials and extramural support, as well as a research portfolio that demonstrates national leadership in their field. Candidates whose research includes incubating and testing innovative models of care, measuring and improving system and provider performance, engaging patients throughout the spectrum of care, or translating knowledge into better outcomes are strongly encouraged to apply. The holder of the chair will have a primary appointment in one of numerous possible departments or professional schools at Dartmouth, with a strong potential for joint or adjunct appointments as well.
The Dartmouth Institute–one of three AHRQ National Centers of Excellence to study health care delivery–has been a leader in the study of health care systems for three decades. As an institute that is firmly anchored in interdisciplinary research, we seek candidates who have experience in working with and mobilizing colleagues across disciplines.
Dartmouth consistently ranks among the country’s leading academic institutions. Home to a celebrated liberal arts curriculum and pioneering professional schools, Dartmouth has forged a singular identity, combining its deep commitment to outstanding undergraduate liberal arts and graduate education with distinguished research and scholarship in Arts & Sciences and three leading professional schools: Geisel School of Medicine, Thayer School of Engineering, and Tuck School of Business.
Dartmouth College is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer with a strong commitment to diversity. In that spirit, we encourage applications from a broad spectrum of people, including women, persons of color, persons with disabilities, veterans or any other legally protected group.
Interested applicants should submit cover letter, complete CV, and research and teaching statements. Applicants should also arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to the Search Committee. All materials should be sent electronically to: Kathy.M.Stroffolino@Dartmouth.edu (subject line: Levy Chair Position). The committee will begin reviewing applications immediately and on an on-going basis until the position is filled.
