The Principal Economist plays a core role in providing intellectual leadership on his/her area of expertise to the rest of the Bank. He/she contributes to the preparation of EBRD flagship publications and is responsible for the management and implementation of one or more large-scale surveys.
Responsibilities:
Undertake high-quality academic and policy-relevant research and disseminate findings through top publications and conferences.
Establish and maintain strong links with the rest of the Bank and outside academics. Provide intellectual support to the Bank on relevant policy, strategic, and operational issues.
Manage, implement, and be end-responsible for large-scale surveys (such as LiTS and BEEPS) across all of EBRDs countries of operation.
Contribute to the generation of key products, for example chapters in the Transition Report or occasional sector- or country-specific reports.
Skills & Qualifications:
Ph.D. in economics from a major university.
A track record of research in fields relevant to EBRD, in the form of a very strong thesis in areas such as development, IO, macroeconomics, trade, or corporate finance.
Proven ability to independently undertake empirical analysis.
An ability to relate research to policy issues and operational issues pertinent to the Bank.
This position is for up to 12 months as maternity cover.
