The Compensation Research and Program Development Group has an opening for a senior research economist. Duties are divided equally between (1) self-directed research that results in publications in refereed economics journals, and (2) activities that enhance the quality and usefulness of BLS programs and data. These activities involve a range of BLS data, including the National Compensation Survey and the Occupational Requirements Survey. The ideal candidate has a solid background in labor economics, strong econometric skills, published research, superior writing skills, the ability to analyze large microdata files, and familiarity with survey design. The starting salary depends on experience and research accomplishments. The BLS is an equal opportunity employer. U.S. citizenship is required.
