The Treasury Department's Office of Microeconomic Analysis anticipates one or more openings in 2016 for a well-qualified economist (new graduate and mid-career). The office provides analysis to senior Treasury and Administration officials on a wide range of financial and economic issues, including fiscal policy, entitlement reform, pensions, labor, health, education, housing, insurance, infrastructure, energy, the environment, and financial market issues. Economists on staff work closely with top policy-makers throughout the federal government while also pursuing their own research agenda. The work requires skills usually associated with a Ph.D. in economics or similar degree. In addition, successful candidates must have the ability to present their views clearly and concisely and to prepare analysis, both oral and written, in tight time frames. U.S. citizenship is required at the time of application.
