Crime Lab New York is seeking a full-time Research Director to contribute to the scientific and intellectual leadership for the CLNY. In this role, the Research Director will help to manage and mentor research and project staff, providing scientific direction and ensuring the rigor and quality of all work. The Research Director would direct a portfolio of applied research projects in association with faculty members focused on reducing crime and violence and improving life outcomes for disadvantaged youth.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in public policy, economics, criminology, statistics, computer science, or other relevant field with substantial policy and research experience. Preference will be given to those with proven experience working with interdisciplinary research teams and agency and community stakeholders.
Crime Lab New York was founded to work closely with local policymakers to help design and rigorously test promising interventions to address pressing urban policy challenges. CLNY will provide extensive, on-going technical assistance, data analysis, research and strategic support to the city. Our current portfolio of projects includes large-scale policy experiments in Chicago and New York City, behavioral science interventions, qualitative studies underground markets, and policy applications of predictive analytics methods from machine learning.
