A University of Chicago economics professor seeks a Senior Research Scientist (SRS) to collaborate with at the University of Chicago to advance the economics of human development beginning July 1, 2016. The SRS will develop theoretical and empirical models of human development across the lifecycle with the goal of examining the origins of human differences and the effectiveness of alternative intervention strategies to foster human skills and capacities and remediate disadvantages. This may include parental choice and child preference formation, intergenerational models of family influence, dynamic nonlinear factor models, and dynamic models of the evolution of skills and capacities. The SRS will organize large-scale developmental data sets and use multiple measurements and equations to identify technologies of skill and health formation. The SRS must have research management and dissemination experience. Duties may include reporting and recruiting. A PhD in economics, at least 5 years’ research experience and demonstrated expertise in health economics and applied microeconomics are required. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, and includes benefits and NBER’s employee health insurance.
