Summary:
Surveillance and Macro Analysis supports the Federal Reserve’s mission to preserve financial system stability. Analysts identify and monitor Fourth District banking conditions and emerging risks and trends in the macro environment, including the banking industry, financial markets, regional and national economies, select non-financial industries, and the regulatory landscape to facilitate macro-prudential supervision. Analysts identify factors that pose potential danger to financial institutions or the financial system as a whole, quantify impact, and communicate findings and potential supervisory responses.
Responsibilities:
•Demonstrates a broad awareness of conditions, trends, and emerging and systemic risks and an ability to understand their interconnectedness and potential impact.
•Demonstrates expert knowledge of broader financial system, banking industry, economic or financial market specialty area.
•Conducts complex quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify trends and emerging risks, quantify impact, and develop conclusions to inform supervisory strategy and policy decisions.
•Develops and maintains databases, spreadsheets, and other tools to facilitate the retrieval of complex economic and financial market data.
•Prepares and presents both orally and in written form research, analysis, and assessments concerning complex matters to department, SCS, and Bank stakeholders as needed or requested.
•Contributes actively by participating in and leading knowledge sharing forums within the SCS Administration and Federal Reserve System related to key risks and emerging issues.
•Contributes actively by leading or participating on the most critical, most complex local and national strategic or operational projects and initiatives intended to enhance policy, supervisory standards and processes, address emerging issues or developments, or enhance quality, performance and effectiveness.
•Actively provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring for less experienced analysts on processes and procedures related to internal matters and the supervisory process.
•Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
•Adheres to the Bank's attendance policies through regular and prompt attendance.
Requirements:
Banking Analyst I –
--1+ years of related work experience
--Bachelor's degree (Preferably in accounting, finance, mathematics, economics or a closely related field)
Banking Analyst II –
--4+ years of related work experience
--Bachelor's degree (Preferably in accounting, finance, mathematics, economics or a closely related field)
Senior Banking Analyst –
--8+ years of related work experience
--Bachelor's degree (Preferably in accounting, finance, mathematics, economics or a closely related field)
--Master's degree preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Analytical and project management skills.
•Technical skills commensurate with experience and focused on one or more specialized risk or knowledge areas.
•Thorough understanding of a scientific discipline (for example, economics, management, computer science).
•Ability to perform data retrieval and manipulation. Advanced skills in Excel and Access a plus.
•Constructs and maintains quantitative models, understands and evaluates complex quantitative models.
•Knowledge of diversified procedures, practices and policies of specific function.
•Knowledge of complex procedures and practices of a specific function.
•Proficiency with complex business technologies.
•Demonstrates critical thinking and decision making abilities as well as have strong written and oral communication abilities.
•Ability to perform involved independent research and innovative creative work.
This position will be located in Cleveland.
