The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is looking for the best and brightest to join our team. This position is in the Division of Risk and Economic Analysis (DERA), Office of Asset Management. The Division is headquartered in in Washington, DC.

Office of Asset Management: The Office of Asset Management (OAM) provides economic and other interdisciplinary analysis in support of the Commission on issues related to the regulation of investment advisers, investment companies, hedge funds, and other institutional investors. This office also analyzes proposals for new financial products, particularly involving exchange traded funds.

Salary Range
SK-11: $73,648 - $121,113

SK-12: $88,266 - $145,165

If selected, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for addressing complex, multifaceted issues related to legal, regulatory, and business risks in the market.

Typical Duties Include:
• Providing research, analysis, and advice to the Division and SEC staff on issues relating to the field of economics;
• Building economic models, determining empirical methodology, organizing data collection, writing and debugging computer programs, and summarizing studies in formal and informal presentations;
• Presenting economic and statistical analyses regarding regulated entities and or products for rulemaking, risk assessment, and enforcement purposes to division management;
• Assisting senior economists in the preparation of papers and manuscripts for publication;
• Serving on teams - along with financial economists, expert consultants, and academics on assignment from prestigious universities - which support DERA in its core functions at the SEC;
• Supporting these teams with data collection, writing computer programs, performing economic analyses, writing reports, and conducting presentations that will have a significant impact on achieving the mission of the SEC; and
• Developing and building economic and securities knowledge/experience and information technology skills.
