The School of Economics at The University of Queensland invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Freight Economics. Applicants will need to have completed or be in the final stages of completion of a PhD in the area of transport economics, transport modelling, logistics management or optimisation. The person should have experience in transport modelling, transport demand modelling and forecasting, logistics or supply chain modelling or optimisation.
The main focus of the position is on the modelling of freight transport and the optimization of intermodal infrastructure for improving the competitiveness of port operations. The project addresses the interest of the Port of Brisbane in increasing the cargo volume traded through the port. Given this interest, the port needs to understand how cargo owners (importers and exporters) manage their supply and logistic chains what lies behind their decisions in terms of transport mode choice.
