Full Text of JOE Listing:
The American Medical Association is the nation’s largest physician membership organization and an influential voice in the U.S. healthcare industry. Our Health Policy Group will be recruiting for an economist January 6-7 at the 2017 ASSA Annual Meeting. Economists provide analytic support in the development of, and advocacy for, AMA policy. Responsibilities include: conducting research linked to AMA’s policy agenda; acquiring and developing data for internal use; assessing the effects of health care legislation; and communicating findings to AMA colleagues. We also engage in primary data collection, most recently fielding the 2016 Physician Practice Benchmark Survey. We anticipate that the successful candidate will focus on potential changes to the Affordable Care Act, and Medicare and Medicaid reform. Applicants should have strong analytic skills, a PhD in economics (or near completion), excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment. As an EOE/AA employer, the American Medical Association will not discriminate in its employment practices due to an applicant’s race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity and veteran or disability status.
