The Department of Economics is seeking to appoint a Professor in Econometrics. We wish to appoint an Econometrician with an outstanding record of publication in the leading international journals, who has an international reputation for excellence in research and academic leadership and who will contribute to the strategic leadership of the Econometrics research group. Whilst welcoming applications in any field of econometrics, macroeconometrics and/or financial econometrics are areas of particular strategic interest.
Job Description:
The principal duties of the person appointed are to:
• Undertake research in Econometrics with a view to publishing in leading international journals
• Contribute to the development of the quality and profile of research in Econometrics at Manchester
• Contribute to academic leadership of the Econometrics research group
• Contribute to academic leadership in the Department of Economics.
• Contribute to high quality research-informed teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level as required.
• Contribute to the supervision of graduate research students working in Economics and Econometrics.
Person Specification:
Essential:
1. A PhD degree in Economics/ Econometrics or related field .
2. Sustained record of excellence in research and associated publication record commensurate with a Professor at Manchester.
3. A strategy for future research in Econometrics
4. Ability to develop the quality and profile of research in Econometrics at Manchester
5. Sustained record of teaching in Economics/ Econometrics at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
6. Ability to supervise research students in Economics/ Econometrics
Desirable:
1. Track record of securing external research funding
2. Sustained record of conference participation as an invited speaker
3. Track record of academic leadership
4. Evidence of successful and/or innovative teaching
5. Extensive and sustained record of PhD supervision and completion
