Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Danish Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Southern Denmark seeks outstanding candidates to fill several positions at the assistant professor level starting spring-autumn 2018.
The Danish IAS is a research centre that aims to inspire ground-breaking ideas through the meeting of minds across the sciences and humanities (see www.dias.sdu.dk). The relevant position within the field of economics is for ‘Historical Economics and Development’ at the Department of Business and Economics.
The Historical Economics and Development Group (HEDG) focuses on growth, development and economic history. Since its establishment in 2011, HEDG has been one of the fastest growing groups within these fields and is arguably one of the leading groups in Europe. The work carried out by the group can be described as quantitative, empirical work. The research of the group often focuses on evaluating the effect of an intervention on economic development, for example the impact of health improvements on long-term growth and assessing the impact of agricultural productivity on development. The group is a part of the strategic initiative ‘Health, Wealth and Inequality’ (HeWI) sponsored by the Faculty of Business and Social
Sciences together with the Center for Health Economics Research (COHERE) and the Max Planck Odense Center.
The appointment is for four years with a possible extension of two years. We offer a uniquely ambitious research environment and ample research funding attached to this particular position, and, for the successful candidate, a position where options for tenure will be discussed during a third-year review.
For further information please contact Prof. Paul Sharp, telephone +45 65503249 or email: pauls@sam.sdu.dk.
First round interviews will be conducted at the ASSA meetings in Philadelphia, January 5-7, 2018.
